Rupee down 3 paise against US dollar - Times of India

MUMBAI: The rupee on Tuesday recovered its initial sharp losses in line with the local equities and late dollar demand, still it ended lower by three paise against the US currency.

A weak dollar overseas amid early fall in local equities and fresh capital outflows led the rupee to resume down at 44.55/56 a dollar from 44.45/46 at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market. It immediately touched a low of 44.7050 as the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex was down by nearly 115 points in morning deals and Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) pulled out USD 178.57 million on April 18 as per SEBI data.
