David Cameron appears to be on a collision course with Washington after the US defence secretary warned of the dangers of "loose talk" about imposing a no-fly zone on Libya .

Robert Gates publicly dismissed Cameron's suggestion that Britain and its allies should consider banning military flights over Libya in an appearance before a congressional committee. But Downing Street said the prime minister believes world leaders face a "duty" to plan for all eventualities in response to Muammar Gaddafi 's attacks on his own people.
