SOLAPUR: "We are really stressed," is what Pratibha Patil, sister of Shailendra (aka Pradeep) Gaikwad, who is a partner in Rendezvous Sports, said when TOI visited her in Solapur on Friday. Rendezvous received the 25% free stake in the IPL Kochi team, and the Gaikwads have the lion's share — 75% — of that sweat equity.

SOLAPUR: "We are really stressed," is what Pratibha Patil, sister of Shailendra (aka Pradeep) Gaikwad, who is a partner in Rendezvous Sports, said when TOI visited her in Solapur on Friday. Rendezvous received the 25% free stake in the IPL Kochi team, and the Gaikwads have the lion's share — 75% — of that sweat equity. "A lot of wrong information is being spread about us. The media has said that we have a posh house. But this Pushp bunglow was constructed more than 20 years back by my father and Pushp Automotives, which is shown as my brother's property, was sold long back by him. It is true that Shailendra started his career there," Patil added.

The Gaikwad family of Solapur, which has suddenly gained prominence due to its association with the IPL Kochi team, is promising to eventually promote cricket across Maharashtra. In a press statement, the family said it was a matter of great pride that a Marathi manoos got an opportunity to get the stake. "Our aim is to spread the message of cricket in small and big towns of Maharashtra. In future, we are also planning to hold matches in Solapur," said the press release handed over by Patil.
