"This is a sensitive issue, and because it is so important to you, we are going to resolve it. We will provide this access as quickly as we can," US ambassador to India Tim Roemer said.

Even now, Roemer said, US interrogators were questioning Headley based on the answers that Indians are seeking from him. These questions are passed on to US investigators as and when they come up and answers from Headley, as well as intelligence, is passed on to India on a daily and weekly basis, he said. "Currently, we're briefing them, providing information, real time," he said.

A lot of intelligence sharing was on to prevent future attacks. "We are giving indirect and direct access," Roemer said. For the US, he added, it was very difficult to provide access, describing it as part of the "complicated" US judicial system.
