Dec. 27 (Bloomberg) -- Israeli aircraft attacked police andsecurity installations across the Gaza Strip, killing scores ofpeople in the deadliest raid since the occupation of the coastalregion ended in 2005, security and medical officials said.
At least 140 people died in the strikes, according to Dr.Mu’awia Hassanein, an emergency medical services official atGaza’s Shifa Hospital. The dead included Tawfiq Jaber, chief ofthe Gaza police force, a security official, who declined to beidentified, said in a telephone interview today. The Israeli army said the “operation will be continued,expanded and intensified as much as will be required,”according to an e-mailed statement.
